Afroblonde Classic HatWhen we first saw the collection from Afroblonde at the 2010 Sustainable Living Festival, it immediately appealed to us in that instinctive way that Australiana sometimes does. The evocative nature of the product, the colours and construction and it's representation of a hard working life just felt so perfect.
Afroblonde is a small Australian company based in the Northern Territory that takes the iconic discarded canvas from Outback Roadtrains and gives the material a "second life". By creating beautiful and functional fashionware, Afroblonde has turned yet another waste product into something useful and long lasting.
The Afroblonde Classic Hat is a unique piece of artiwork, with no two hats the same. Each is a blend of colours, proudly showing off their past through discolouration and wear. The Classic hat features a fixed brim, great for those sunny afternoons where a bit of shade is vital. Despite this fixed brim, the hat is flexible and hardy enough to be crammed into a back pack or into the boot of the car.
Made with 100% recycled truck canvas, the Afroblonde Classic Hat is a true representation of upcycling - taking what would normally be thrown out, and turning it into something useful. The hat does contain some new materials, such as the liner and wire to create the fixed brim.
Available in three sizes, the Afroblonde Classic Hat is perfect for wearing on long walks, and particularly for presents. The truly Australian nature of the product will leave International guests with a lasting memory of the force of the Outback.
