In the last few months, a new catchphrase has started doing the rounds, and it's gathering steam. Not Carbon Footprint, Carbon Neutral or Environmental Awareness. Carborexic (a play on anorexic) is the new phrase for people who become excessively conscious of their carbon activities and emissions - to the point where it becomes detrimental to their health and well being. Being Carbon Conscious is important these days, but Carborexic has the potential to ruin lives. |

One of the biggest "green expos" of the year is just about here. Given the events of the last few months, and in particular the last two weeks, it's not overly surprising that the economic downturn has overtaken the environment as the foremost concern in minds of people. It is very hard to encourage someone to make modifications to their practices when their very homes are at risk. A rather dramatic viewpoint, but getting someone to install a solar hot water system pales into insignificance when compared to paying the mortgage. |

Greywater is better water |

The thing about greywater that makes it a great option is it provides you with the ability to recycle your own water for your garden or plants. It means that rather than pouring litres of tainted water into the sewerage system, you get to use kinder washing detergents and keep your plants happy. But what happens when you can't use a greywater system? You might be in an aparment or unit, or even renting and not be able to install the equipment you require? How then can you help make a difference? |

If you like listening to scientists, they certainly like telling us about their latest uncoverings about your favourite food items. In the last few years, the benefits of fish to your diet has been explored, tested and certified. In fact they've even boiled it down to things like "Omega-3" to let you know exactly what it is about eating fish that is good for you. Kind of makes it weird eating a chicken sandwich with bread made with Omega-3! The downside is also an increasing ingredient in some fish species - Mercury. |
